Pre-debut Facts

Little Heechul

  • During winter, Heechul and his friends walked or ran down the mountain using potato sacks as toboggans because there was no bus.

  • Heechul played alone when he was a kid

  • Heechul got bullied by a girl older than him

  • Even when Heechul’s sick, he would still go to school.

  • When Heechul was a kid, he had an angry tantrum and cried. He cried so much that her mother didn’t let him come inside their house. A lady passed by and saw him with his puffy eyes. The ahjumma fell for his charms and knocked on their door to persuade her parents to let him in because a cute and polite boy like him could not have done a very big mistake.

  • Heechul was a very naughty and lively student during middle school that he was always sent to the Principal’s office.

  • Heechul’s hair during high school was a bit long and his teacher would always let him go because he’s always asking for a little consideration.

Trainee Days

  • Heechul sang rock ballads when he auditioned in SMEnt. He sang Kim Jungmin’s and NEXT songs like “Here I Stand for You”

  • Heechul passed his audition by dancing a very lousy and dorky dance. Amazing ah? That’s the charm of Kim Heechul.

  • Heechul was late on his SME audition but when they saw his face, they agreed to see his audition.

  • Heechul and Jaejoong used to live in the same dorm.

  • Heechul and Jaejoong were really close that Jae used banmal when speaking to his Heechul Hyung

  • Heechul and Jaejoong used to fight a lot when it comes to food.

After Debut Facts

  • Heechul auditioned in October 2002 and debuted as an actor in March 2005

  • Heechul is in the entertainment industry now because he loves it and it was his parents’ dream for him (to see him in tv).

  • Heechul calls all his solo lines “The Art of 4 Seconds” because almost all of his solo lines are only 4 seconds long.

  • Heechul liked older women, but since, nowadays, there are lots of new artists that are cute, he’s now more attracted to younger women. *cough* Sohee *cough*

  • Heechul thought that 48 million views on his cyworld/minihompy was too little.

  • Once Heechul went on a diet, he would only eat chilli and sweet potato. He lost 4 kg by just eating like this.

  • Heechul became paranoid of his surroundings since the day he debuted.

  • Heechul was called “Acting Genius” and then was officially called “Pretty Man”

  • Heechul cared a lot about his image since the start of their debut. He always thought that wherever he goes, there will always be a third eye that’s watching him. That’s why even when he’s home, he will cover himself with a blanket while changing his clothes.

  • Heechul doesn’t blink even when thinking because he’s afraid that the camera will catch it.

  • After Heechul’s debut, he was usually hard to get along.

  • Heechul got more addicted in playing games after he debuted.

  • There was a time when Heechul refused to sing and asked SM not to give him any song lines. Because of his famous out-of-tune mistake during a performance of Twins.

On his Shows

  • He never said that he looked ugly on shows. Even once.

  • During the filming of Golden Bride, Heechul feels melancholic while reading the script because his character has a similar personality with his.

  • When Heechul was a DJ of Youngstreet (way back), women don’t like talking to him because they were afraid of him.

  • Heechul wanted to install more cameras in Youngstreet because their cameras weren’t as great as Kiss the Radio.

For Fans

  • Heechul appreciates those Petals that are really goods in graphic design.

  • Heechul’s kissed guys on the stage (while performing) because it was for ELF. As a fan service. Nothing more nothing less.ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

  • Heechul loves doing tongue-service! LMAO. 

  • In SS2, a fan sprayed Heechul with a water pistol. Heechul then took a 2L bottle of water and poured it to the fan. Lol

About his Accident

  • Metals rods had to be placed in his left leg because of the fracture he got from the accident.

  • And even if he had already fractured 5 parts of his leg plus other injuries, he was still afraid of fainting in front of the camera. To succeed, he bit his tongue so hard it bled and he couldn’t talk for a week.

  • When the August 2006 accident happened, he didn’t talk for a week because he bit his tongue going to the hospital for trying not to faint.

  • After a few months, he made his comeback standing on a stage singing Super Junior-T’s  ”Is There No One Like Me.”

  • Hankyung was there to support him, and Hankyung cried when he saw Heechul perform on stage for the first time after the accident.

Super Junior

  • When Super Junior was first formed, Heechul was worried for the leader, Leeteuk.

  • Heechul thought Leeteuk seemed too easy to bully when he first came. But now it’s Shindong that’s much better to bully.

  • Heechul helped Hankyung a lot when he didn’t have any schedules and couldn’t come out on programs.

  • Hankyung on the other hand, doesn’t say too much things about Heechul on screen. Maybe because of his lack in Korean words, or because he wants to keep it to himself and Heechul only? Hankyung also doesn’t say lots of praises and wouldn’t say, ‘Cinderella, you’re so pretty today.’ all of a sudden.

Even if Hankyung says, ‘Heechul and I have a close relationship.’ You wouldn’t hear the intimacy.

Even if Hankyung says, ‘I want to be like Heechul.’ You wouldn’t hear the admiration.

Even if Hankyung asks Heechul, ‘Will you miss me?’ You wouldn’t hear the longing.

Even if Hankyung says, ‘Eunhyuk and Leeteuk? I like Heechul even more.’ You wouldn’t hear the dedication.

Hankyung is like this. Someone who will stand behind you quietly, making efforts to care for someone.

Hankyung is someone who cooks Beijing fried rice or noodles for Heechul after having a tough training.

Hankyung is someone who only shows love to Heechul when he’s off stage.

  • Heechul disliked Kibum at first because Kibum used informal language towards him. He scolded him and said he doesn’t like him.

  • If Heechul’s girlfriend is crying and told him to cheer her up, he’ll say to get off because he doesn’t want a clingy girlfriend. 

  • Heechul wants to call his daughter, Cherry.

  • Heechul prefer pretty women over charismatic women. 

  • Since Heechul is so expressive in liking Sohee that she once thought of meeting him to thank him but too scared because of his fans.

  • Heechul constantly changing his hairstyles are based on what he seen in mangas. He will sketch it and he will talk to his hairstyle to discuss about it.

  • If Heechul is angry he’ll calmly close both his eyes and become silent. But if he’s really angry, he might throw the things that are around him.

  • Heechul gained 3kg in four weeks while training at the army.

  • Heechul was wondering why fans were happy that he was healthier at the army, when in fact, life in the army was hard. 

  • Heechul took baths together with other recruits in the army. 

  • Fan letters was the best thing for Heechul at KATC Army.

4D CHOCOBALLS 

  • Hongki gave a pencil case to Heechul as a gift because Heechul never had a pencil case when he was still studying.

  • Heechul’s dream was to become a rock star and it was fulfilled when M&D was formed. :)

  • Hongki thinks that his Heechul Hyung is truly the best AB Bloodtype thats why he really likes him.

  • Heechul used jondehtmal (formal language) to Jang GeunSuk for over a month when he first met him.

  • One time, AB brothers decided to stop drinking alcohol and decided to drink tea instead. They talked about a lot of things while drinking tea. But a day after, Nassun called Hee to aske what he was doing and Heechul said that he was drinking beer with Jungmo. HanChul Facts

  • Heechul treating Hankyung well, is not only because of their age, ranking (sunbae/hoobae) and also not only because they live in the same dorm. It’s because Hankyung had to leave his home, and has to endure everything (too much) by himself. Being his friend, fellow member, Heechul feels that he should take care of Hankyung even more.

  • Furthermore, the so called ai mei (love) is actually only because of the requirement in front of the camera. Heechul is a fairly traditional guy. But there’s a very interesting thing that happened. At their dorm when they were filming Hankyung’s China 10 days trip diary, Hankyung asked Heechul whether he would miss him. Heechul stayed silent for a second and replied, ‘Are you sick or something?’ And then gave Hankyung a peck on his cheek.

  • On the Korean show Ya Shim Man Man, Heechul said that whenever Hankyung hears anything he doesn’t want to hear or doesn’t want to reply at, he just pretends not to understand Korean that well. And he also said that Hankyung is very good at swearing. Hankyung replied with, ‘You taught me that!’

  • And when Heechul wanted to imitate Hankyung again, Hankyung told Heechul to shut up. Where as Heechul replied with, ‘If I don’t talk, how do they understand you! Otherwise why would they ask me to come on this show with you? ‘

  • Heechul also mentioned that whenever he asks Hankyung to make food for him or whatever, Hankyung would always do it for him. And asked Hankyung, ‘If you didn’t really like me, would you do these things for me?’ Hankyung then replied with, ‘I wouldn’t.’

  • Conclusion is, if it’s not for Heechul, nobody would understand Hankyung’s Korean. And if it’s not for Hankyung, nobody would cook for Heechul. Therefore, they can’t live without each other. (Until now? </3)

  • There was once on Heechul’s radio show when he talked about him and Hankyung watching a horror (zombie movie) DVD together at home. Heechul showed Hankyung the DVD and made some very weird noises. He then asked, ‘Hankyung, how is my pronunciation?’ Hankyung answered, ‘The pronunciation is really funny. Haha, your pronunciation, sigh, don’t ever speak Chinese again.’

  • Hankyung being Super Junior’s only Chinese member, already got lots of attention from both Korean and Chinese fans before his debut. As SM’s trainee having 2 years of strict training and the first Chinese trainee whom debuted, Hankyung always had the feeling of having to endure the tremendous responsibility. Hankyung who silently has to endure all the pressure by himself always knows how to overcome all the difficulties strongly.

  • From the very first regret on stage till now when everything is going smoothly, every step going forward has been made with tears and sweat. Hankyung, being in a different country than his hometown having to live 2 years of tough training, even though it harmed his body, he still brings up his strong and gentle personality and is able to be understandable. Every time when facing the fans and the camera he would always be able to smile, and keeps the pressure and endurance to himself.

  • Hankyung being Chinese, has Korean as his biggest obstacle in Korea. Bit by bit he learns to listen carefully to what other people say. Quietly smiling to encourage others. Heechul, living in the same dorm said, ‘I would only drink Soju with Hankyung. The two of us don’t need to say anything. Just drinking Soju together silently.’ At Heechul’s saddest times it’s Hankyung being by his side to keep him company. Compared to a Korean next door, Hankyung being Chinese understands him even better.

  • Hankyung and Heechul are good friends in the group. When they have time, they would frequently play (computer) games together, watch horror movies or go to Korea’s famous GAG CONCERT. Watching horror movies and playing computer games are their hobbies. Heechul said that every time when he’s angry, Hankyung would always say, ‘Let’s go drink Soju together!’ Hankyung can’t be lacked in Super Junior. Being an older brother he always receives lots of love from his younger brothers. Everybody also likes him and helps him a lot. Doesn’t matter if it’s help in his daily life or the language. His perfect face plus his perfect body, being able to dance ballet and perform martial arts and his perfect personality. Hankyung with Heechul, Kibum and Siwon together are being named ‘The flower boys F4’ by the fans.

‘The one I love a lot…’ After that he asked Hankyung to name only one person who he’s most appreciative of. Hankyung answered Siwon. Cinderella was then being jealous like a girl, ‘Is it because Siwon’s Chinese is better? I have also taught you lots of swear words.’

Heechul’s proposal to Ayumi: ”I’ve been watching you for a while.. It seems like Ayumi-ssi has some feelings for me too. Why is it that I’m being kind of rude right now… that is…” (Hankyung reaches his hand out to tick on Heechul’s arm)

Heechul to Hankyung: Stand still. (LOL XD)

Heechul to Ayumi:”You may think that I have no manners. Didn’t we say that God is fair? I have the looks, the brains and the knowledge, so of course I won’t have a good temper. Don’t you think I’m pretty good?”

Ayumi: You get off. (LOL Heechul laughed shockingly with his big eyes)

Kang Ho Dong:”I’ll let you guys exchange eye contact first.” (Heechul stared at Ayumi with his big eyes and turned from conceited to cute)

Kang Ho Dong:”Ayumi, do you like Heechul?” (Ayumi lifted her hands up and Heechul backs off because he thought she was going to slap him)

Ayumi:”Wait a bit.”

Hankyung’s proposal to Ayumi (sits with lots of confidence).

Ayumi (amazed):”It’s the first time I’ve seen him like this.”

Hankyung (bows):”Hello~”

Ayumi (bows):”Hello~”

Hankyung:”First time seeing you today. Nice to meet you.”

Ayumi:”Yes, nice to meet you.”

Hankyung:”Thanks for working so hard today. (Suddenly sings) Do you love me? May I ask you that in such way? Do you love me? Is your tenderness still regretful? Do you really love me?”

Ayumi:”What exactly was that song? (XD) Though, I’m very touched.”

Hankyung:”I’m asking you if you love me.”

Kang Ho Dong: Do you like Hankyung?”

Ayumi:”I like Hankyung-ssi.” (Hankyung was very happy and went over to Heechul and hugged him saying,”Heechul, you worked hard.)

Heechul:”I was probably too much pressure for her.” (LOL!)

This was Hankyung’s first time participating on a Korean show. Being his usual self, Heechul was goofing around like always. Everybody knows how Heechul always talks a lot on shows and has lots of camera time. But on this episode of Love Letter he never had the intentions to steal Hankyung’s camera time. As he knows that this is Hankyung’s first time appearing on a Korean show. When Hankyung said something funny cluelessly, Heechul bursted out in laughter and literally rolled on the floor dying of laughter with tears rolling down his face. Heechul who always knows what to say at any time, was too full of himself when he was proposing to Ayumi. But did he really say that to praise himself? Or did he say that on purpose to let Hankyung win? Nobody knows. All I know is that when Hankyung hugged Heechul, it’s called ”friendship”.

  • Because Hankyung doesn’t have the opportunity to promote himself, the one sacrificing his image not minding the embarrassment, the one who continuously imitates, ‘WULI HANGUNG XI’. And the one who proudly asks, ‘Who here has touched the martial arts man Hankyung’s rock like thighs before?’ is Kim Heechul.

  • One day, Hankyung came back to his dorm and told the other members that there were some Korean people outside who scolded him in Chinese. When Heechul heard this he was very angry and immediately went out to find the Korean guys to take revenge.

  • He then said, ‘Hankyung is living in a foreign country alone. And he’s such a nice friend too. It made me so angry, because they did that just because he’s a foreigner.’

  • When other people comment (negatively) on Hankyung’s Korean ability, the one who anxiously says, ‘If you have the ability then say a sentence in Chinese for me to hear.’ is Kim Heechul.

  • The one saying he’s envious of Hankyung’s charisma on stage, the one saying whenever he’s together with Hankyung, he’s the bad person out of the two, the one saying he has never seen anyone who is as photogenic as Hankyung, the one saying ‘how can there be such a kind hearted kid’, is Kim Heechul.

  • ‘Originally two people eating noodles is all about mutual striving and snatching to eat more than the other, however Hankyung only eats a little and always gives way to me so that I can wait slowly for the noodles to cool down a bit and then eat.’ The one, when talking with fans and mentions Hankyung all the time, is Kim Heechul.

  • The one who introduces Hankyung with ‘The one I love the most’ and says that compared to a fellow Korean, Hankyung who’s Chinese is more close/understanding, is Kim Heechul.

  • The one who’s always standing next to Hankyung ready to wipe away Hankyung’s tears whenever he cries, is Kim Heechul.

  • The one who pulls at Hankyung saying ‘Don’t say you’re a foreigner anymore!’, is Kim Heechul.

  • The one who fell in love with Beijing fried rice, is Kim Heechul.

  • Could it be that without this love, there wouldn’t have been this Beijing fried rice?

  • When filming the Happiness MV, the one who pushed Siwon away who accidentally blocked Hankyung on screen and then hid behind Kangin uninterestedly after completing his mission, is Kim Heechul.

  • In Superjunior’s NS, there’s a part of Heechul and Hankyung’s beautiful speech/words. Hankyung, who due to his nationality can’t go on screen on many programs of many television stations, can only sign contracts with korea’s KM, SBS and KBS. But it will always hinder the other 12 members’ promotion activities, regardless of which television station. Therefore, on a certain performance of a certain television station, Hankyung had been requested to wear a mask to be able to perform. I’ve always believed that Korea’s ‘mask’ performance, makes people feel very awkward and shameful.

  • At that time, Super Junior just debuted. Hankyung who was performing on a different country’s stage, didn’t dare to come to the front. Heechul pulled him out to the front, but Hankyung stepped back again. After wrestling for a little while, Heechul held onto him tightly hugging Hankyung from behind, courageously letting him stand in the front of the stage. In the middle of their performance, Heechul continuously looked over at Hankyung.

  • Hankyung’s Korean wasn’t so fluent when Super Junior debuted, which hinders his fans to not be able to understand him that well. Heechul who was DJ-ing Young Street started a little section. Every day on the radio show, he talked about some amusing things that happened in Hankyung’s life, so that Korean fans would get some preliminary understanding/ knowledge of Hankyung.

  • This way, Heechul brought Hankyung closer to the audience step by step patiently and sincerely. Therefore, many Heechul’s Korean fans started to truly pay close attention to Hankyung’s existence, discovering Hankyung’s talent for dancing and his delicate face. Although he might not have said it through his own mouth, but he and Hankyung are in very good terms. Heechul once said that he only drinks Soju with Hankyung.

  • As for Hankyung, he’s also a stubborn kid. Heechul has asked him many times, ‘Who treats you the best?’ He would talk around it by saying ‘he’ (Heechul) has taught him lots of Korean. As for Heechul, even though he was disappointed, he still patiently asked, ‘Then who treats you the best in your living needs?’ Hankyung didn’t hesitate at all and said, ‘It’s Heechul.’

  • Although, Heechul never opened his mouth to talk about his and Hankyung’s real ‘intimate state’, but, whenever Hankyung cries because of homesickness, the one who would always silently stand behind him, ready to comfort Hankyung at any time, is no other than Kim Heechul. He doesn’t want to expose himself; he doesn’t have the intensions to steal Hankyung’s rare opportunity to be on screen. In fact, he always creates screen time for Hankyung and pulls him out everytime the camera turns his way. And the one who never forgets to imitate Hankyung on a show, is Kim Heechul.
